âThe Glamour Squad,â said Golly, because Frotwoot had asked her what it was and apparently just repeating the name of it to him was supposed to answer the question. âYou know, like⦠the squad that uses glamour?â
âI donât know what that means.â
âSeriously?â
âWell, I thought so, yeah; but with the way youâre laughing at me now I donât know. Maybe Iâm kidding.â
âHow have you not heard of the Glamour Squad?â
âIâm from a small town, remember?â
âYeah, but come onâ¦â
âCan you make fun of me later, maybe, and just tell me what it is?â
âUm⦠okay, I guess itâs like⦠the undercover branch of knighthood, basically.â
âOh.â
âDidnât you ever see that show about it?â
âI told you, I didnât have a TV growing up,â Frotwoot kind-of-lied; the true part of that, of course, being that he didnât have a TV capable of picking up signals from Seelie. âWhat was it about, knights pretending to be supermodels or something?â
âWhat? No. Why would it be about that?â
âBecause⦠âglamourâ?â
âI donât get it.â
âUhâ¦â
âLike, a glamourâs an illusion. What do illusions have to do withâ? Oh, wait. Yeah, oookay, I get it. Very funny.â
Frotwoot wasnât aware heâd made a joke, but luckily Golly wasnât there to see him looking all stupid and confused so he was pretty much able to just play it off like he had. Where she was was in an unmarked surveillance/communications coach somewhere, talking to him through the special earring-shaped earpiece and watch-shaped radio combo that had been hidden in the crumpled-up piece of paper that her dad had slipped into Frotwootâs pocket. Golroc had been the one talking to him through them at first, telling him to make his way to Pixie Land while Golly and Pixley âgot into positionâ, and it wasnât until Golly had gotten into her position (i.e. the unmarked coach) that sheâd taken over, saving them both from the most painfully awkward small talk that either of them had ever had to endure. That of course had led to him asking what the âGlamour Squadâ was, and if youâd like a recap of what happened after that just go back to the beginning of the chapter and start reading it again. You might get caught in an infinite loop doing that, but at least youâll know whatâs going on. Or you could just keep reading from here. Whichever.
âSo, uh ⦠what made you change your mind?â asked Golly.
âWhat?â
âYou know, about doing this.â
âOh. Right. Um⦠how many extra points would I get if I said I was doing it for you?â
âYouâd get negative points for lying.â
âWhat, really?â
âReally.â
âIâm definitely not doing it for you, then.â
Golly laughed. âOkay, then why?â
âItâs⦠hard to explain.â
âCould you try?â
Not without lying, Frotwoot thought, and regardless of âpointsâ, and despite having to do it quite often, he hated lying to her. âUh⦠maybe later. Iâm almost there.â
âWhere?â
âPixie Land,â said Frotwoot, as Pixie Land indeed came into view. It looked a lot emptier now, and was certainly a lot quieter.
âOh, right. Okay, let me, um⦠let me see if Pix is there yet.
